K. Stephens is an award-winning Maine journalist whose debut lobstering novel, The Ghost Trap, (Leapfrog Press, 2009) was adapted into an independent feature film in 2024. The book was re-released with a new film cover in 2024 and the film won three awards for "Best Feature." Of Irish descent, Stephens traveled throughout Ireland, Scotland, and England to collect selkie folklore from libraries, shops, and storytellers—taking ten years to write her latest novel, By the Dark o' the Moon. She resides in Midcoast Maine.
